United Methodist Men from South Central Alaska are invited to tailgate
party at St. John United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 10th to
watch the AFC Divisional Championship game on the big screen.

Our special guest via video will be Coach Tony Dungy of the Indianapolis
Colts. Coach Dungy is known throughout the NFL and beyond as a man of
quiet strength, absolute integrity and genuine faith. Throughout the
event we will share brief spots from Tony on topics of strength, success,
security and our legacy. Tony will also share a very brief meditation on
the parable of the Good Samaritan.

Highlights of the event will include:

. both macho and healthful snacks.
. a football trivia contest and manly games to prove your accuracy as a
potential NFL center or quarterback (great prizes will be awarded!)
. a super tailgate buffet featuring gourmet chicken wings,
bratwurst & sausage with all the fixings, pasta salad and warm chocolate chip
cookies.

The event is scheduled from 11:30 AM to 4PM and will be a benefit to
help fund a travel pool for assist Alaska Men to attend the 100th ‘Anniversary
Gathering of United Methodist Men in Nashville, TN in July of 2009.
Cost for the event is $20.00 payable at the door.

1.  In the Anchorage area, we are planning for several of the local UMM to gather for breakfast with our new Bishop (Grant Hagiya) at 7:30 am on October 18.

2.  We are approaching UMC pastors to ask one man from each church to coordinate the collection of photos of people in the Armed Forces and Veterans from each local church to be displayed on Sunday, November 9 (the Sunday before Veterans Day), in honor of those now serving and those who have served in the Armed Forces.

3.  In the Anchorage area, we are planning a gathering of UMM on Sunday, January 11 for a brunch and to watch the Super Bowl playoffs/, looking at an inspirational program by Tony Dungy (Coach at Indianapolis), a tailgate party format.

4.  With the Hope Retreat on "Letters from Dad" getting only limited response in October, we have rescheduled that retreat event for March 14 & 15, with Rev. Peter Perry serving as resource person for that event.  The final four is the following week.  There should be some good cross country skiing at this event.

5.  In July, we hope to have one or two representatives at the National UMM meeting in Nashville during the week of July 7.
